Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull Background: Marion Ravenwood was the daughter of a well known archaelogist and historical antiquities seeker named Abner Ravenwood. In 1925, Marion Ravenwood met Indiana Jones after Indy Jones became involved in Abner Ravewood's search for the Ark of the Covenant.

Eventually, Indiana Jones and Marion Ravenwood were romantically involved, but their relationship didn't last and it ended up ruining Indy Jones' friendship with Abner Ravenwood. Without Indiana Jones, Abner and Marion Ravenwood kept searching for the Ark of the Covenant, which led both of them to Egypt, Iran, Iraq, Europe and then to Nepal in Asia.

In Nepal, Abner Ravenwood bought a tavern, which he named The Raven. For a good deal of time, Marion Ravenwood was in charge of running the tavern and sent the profits of the tavern to Abner Ravenwood in order to finance Abner Ravenwood's further expeditions.
