Indiana Jones and the Last Crusade Background History: Sallah was the seventh child born in his family from Cairo, Egypt in 1897. From an early age, Sallah obtained an interest in archaeology. With his father, Sallah worked with archaeologists from the United States on adventures on the Nile River searching for lost Egyptian sites and hidden hieroglyphics.

After Sallah's father perished in 1912, Sallah had to take over raising his four brothers and six sisters with his mother. Fortuitously, Sallah met a young Indiana Jones in 1913 and guided Indy Jones in regards to exploring the Great Pyramids. Sallah and Indy Jones found the lost tomb of Tatankhamun more than a decade before it was officially found by Howard Carter.

Sallah was involved with the search for the Ring of Osiris and problems created by Gustav von Trappen. For the rest of his life, Sallah would be close friends with Indy Jones and they traveled on many, many quests with each other.
