Indiana Jones and the Last Crusade Background Info: Actor River Phoenix was the 13 year old version of Indy Jones during Indiana Jones and the Last Crusade. River Phoenix acted as the son of Harrison Ford in a movie called The Mosquito Coast (1986). In fact, Harrison Ford suggested River Phoenix for the part of Young Indiana Jones because Harrison Ford believed River Phoenix resembled Harrison Ford at a young age.

During the filming of the opening sequence with Young Indy Jones for Indiana Jones and the Last Crusade, Harrison Ford was on the set in order to instruct River Phoenix on acting like the real Indy Jones. For no apparent reason, Lucasfilm was extremely secretive about River Phoenix being cast as Young Indy Jones. The very, very extremely eccentric nature of George Lucas is difficult to understand.
