Plot Story Script Summary: The movie opens in the year 1912 with Young Indiana Jones with his boy scout troop out in the middle of the Utah wilderness. Young Indy Jones comes across some mercenary archaeologists, who have found the Cross of Coronado. Next, Young Indiana Jones seizes the Cross and then is chased by the mercenaries in a thrilling action sequence involving a circus train. Eventually, Young Indy Jones has to give back the cross to the villains. The film then moves to the year 1938 where we see the older Indiana Jones taking back the Cross of Coronado from the bad guys on a ship off the Portugal coast.
Indiana Jones meets Walter Donovan, who is interested in the Holy Grail of the Christian faith. Additionally, Donovan informs Indy Jones that Indiana Jones' father named Henry Jones Sr is missing. Next, Indy Jones is shown a partial stone tablet that reveals clues as to the true location of the Holy Grail. Eventually, Indiana Jones receives his father's Grail diary in the mail. With certainty, Indy Jones realizes his father is in deep trouble because Indiana Jones' father wouldn't part with his Grail diary unless he had no other option.
Traveling to Venice, Italy where Henry Jones Sr was last seen, Indy Jones and Marcus Brody meet the enchanting Elsa Schneider, who appears to be a friend of Indiana Jones' father. The heroes locate a hidden chamber below a library in Venice, which contains the tomb of an important knight from the Crusades. Indy Jones and Elsa find the whole stone tablet, which supposedly points the way to the Holy Grail's location. However, a secret society called The Brotherhood of the Cruciform Sword set the underground chamber on fire and both Indiana Jones and Elsa manage to escape to safety.
While Indy Jones and Elsa are running from the secret society, a massively spectacular chase sequence in the waters of Venice unfolds, which ends with Indiana Jones capturing one of the members of the secret society. After Indiana Jones manages to convince the member of the secret society that they are not evil searchers of the Holy Grail, this member informs Indy Jones that his father is being held prisoner in a castle on the Austrian German border. Meanwhile, Marcus Brody has gone to Iskenderun, Hatay with the Holy Grail map in the hopes of finding the Holy Grail.
Trying to rescue Henry Jones Sr, Indiana Jones and Elsa infiltrate the castle where Henry Jones Sr is being held prisoner. Indy Jones locates his father, but learns that Elsa and Donovan are working with Nazi Germany in order to locate the Holy Grail. The villains seize the Grail diary from Indiana Jones. After a majestically stunning action scene, Indy Jones and his father manage to escape from most certain death and they eventually arrive in Berlin, Germany and recover the Grail diary from Elsa.
Unfortunately, Indiana Jones and his father learn that Marcus Brody has been captured by the Nazi bad guys. However, with the help of the secret society, Indy Jones manages to rescue Marcus Brody from the Nazi. Donovan, Elsa and the Nazi minions discover the location of the Holy Grail, but they are unable to get a hold of the Holy Grail because it is protected by several ingenious traps, which the villains are unable to solve in order to reach the Holy Grail. After the villains learn that the heroes are also at the location of the Holy Grail, Donovan shoots Henry Jones Sr with a gun, which forces Indy Jones to outsmart the traps in order to get the Holy Grail to save his father.
After much, much excitement, Indiana Jones manages to outwit the dangerous traps and Indy Jones enters a room with hundreds of potential Holy Grails, which are all protected by an ancient knight, who has been protecting the Holy Grail for centuries. Next, Donovan arrives at the room with the collection of Holy Grails, but Donovan is unable to distinguish which of the potential Holy Grails is the real one. With extreme deceit, Elsa gives Donovan one of the false Holy Grails. Greedily, Donovan drinks from the wrong grail in the hopes it will give him eternal life.
After trying to obtain godlike powers, the curse of the Holy Grail destroys Donovan. With haste, Indiana Jones selects the correct Holy Grail and drinks from it to make sure he has the right Holy Grail. Indy Jones then takes the Holy Grail to his father. After drinking from the Holy Grail and having the holy water from the Holy Grail poured on his wounds, Henry Jones Sr makes a full and remarkable recovery. However, the ancient knight tells the heroes that the power of the Holy Grail only works in the temple and that the Holy Grail cannot be removed from the temple.
Elsa tries to take the Holy Grail outside the temple, but it brings about the destruction of the temple and Elsa perishes trying to keep the Holy Grail for herself. At the conclusion of the movie, the audience learns that Indy Jones' real name is Henry Jones Jr. Indiana Jones' father says the word Indiana was borrowed from the name of a dog they once owned. The four heroes of Indiana Jones, Henry Jones Sr, Sallah and Marcus Brody literally ride into the sunset on horses.
