Raiders of the Lost Ark Background: Belloq was from a very, very extremely wealthy family of wine makers at Forteresse Malevil in France. As a young person, Belloq admired the most famous archaeologist in France. To obtain his archaeology dream, Belloq studied at Sorbonne where Indiana Jones was involved with linguistics studies. Finally in August 1922, Belloq and Indy Jones met at Ur in Iraq at an archaeological digging site. However, Belloq seized and took many historical artifacts from the dig and made many important contacts on the black market for artifacts of history.
